Products containing the cannabis-derived compound cannabidiol (a.k.a. CBD) are sweeping the country, and the creator of the US’ most iconic jelly beans has joined the trend.

Candy-maker David Klein, who created the world-famous Jelly Belly brand in 1976, has rolled out a line of CBD candy beans, targeting what he feels is a gap in current offerings for edibles.

As Cannabis Aficionado‘s Melissa Hutsell reported this month, Klein has stayed active in the confectionary space since selling the Jelly Belly brand in 1980, and launched other bean-related businesses.

Klein told Cannabis Aficionado that after learning more about the perceived benefits of CBD, “I said to myself, ‘is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?’”

His resulting and latest venture is Spectrum Confections, which sells bags of CBD-containing beans in three varieties.

Each been reportedly contains 10mg of CBD, which Klein says makes it easy for customers to administer the right dose (and while it may be cost-ineffective to keep snacking, at least we know that eating too much CBD — unlike sugar, or contaminants that show up in some products — isn’t an issue, health-wise).

The company’s original, sugar-free, and sour beans are currently out of stock, but would-be customers can contact Spectrum Confections to inquire about ordering.
